Botswana makes history.
On 2nd September JCI announced Mr Kitso Masi as one of the top Ten Outstanding Young Persons of the world.
The national competition was operated as part of a global program of JCI (Junior Chamber International), a worldwide federation of young active citizens with over half a million members, JCI Senators and senior members in more than 115 countries and territories. JCI Botswana is one of more than the 115 national organizations of JCI.
“The TOYP program which runs annually serves to recognize those individuals all over the world who excel in their chosen fields, endeavors and show commitment to their communities. We also hope that by recognizing these honorees we will provide fitting role models for the young leaders of tomorrow” explained JCI Botswana President Mr Prince Bashe.
JCI Botswana entered eight entrants to this global and highly contested flagship program. Mr Masi and Mr Tshepang Mabaila made it to the top 30. After rigorous judging activity, Mr, Mabaila was eliminated while Mr Masi made it to the top 10. The category that he was entered for and made us proud with is “Personal Improvement and/or Accomplishment”
Mr Masi will be traveling to the JCI World Congress in Hammamet, Tunisia on the 16th to 18th November 2009 on a JCI paid trip. At the congress he will be featured at the TOYP ceremony and awarded the TOYP trophy. After the ceremony, there will be a reception for honorees, special invitees, JCI Board members, Chief Delegates and community dignitaries.
This is the first time that a Motswana wins this prestigious award and its history in the making. “The Botswana flag will be flying high among the 115 countries that will be represented in Hammamet, Tunisia, because of Mr Masi” Mr. Bashe said.
